A special place for beginner Ballerinas!
Tutu Cute dancers learn the ballet basics while enjoying a playful and creative class. Ballerinas will be engaged with imaginative story dances, beautiful picture poses and our endearing ‘tiara time’ all while incorporating ballet technique and terminology.
Our gorgeous music is the perfect soundtrack to watch your beautiful Ballerinas bloom.
40 minutes duration.
What we learn:
1. Arm Placement
Ballerinas learn the 5 positions of the arms through our original ‘Positions of the Arms’ song. Our hand & arm warm ups & centre exercises will also help create beautiful lines and soft arms & hands.
2. Feet Placement
Ballerinas learn the 5 positions of the feet through our original Tutu Cute ‘Positions of the Feet’ song. Our exercises will also help strengthen little feet so they can be pointed beautifully.
Our warm ups, stretches & centre exercises will help Ballerinas with their technique including turn out & correct posture. (Please note, we do not use the barre in the Tutu Cute program).
4. Solo Work
Ballerinas will have the opportunity each week to perform skills on their own & will always be encouraged by a supportive audience. This helps to build their confidence & performance skills.
We begin to learn correct ballet terminology (e.g. 1st position instead of ‘happy feet’). Ballerinas will know their sautes from their plies & their tendus from their fondus!
6. Memory Recall
Memories will get a work out as ballerinas learn a beautiful dance with choreography to add each week. They will also try to remember the weekly ‘Picture Pose’ throughout the class
A ballet body can be the building block for all popular dance styles. We focus on maintaining good posture even during our sitting exercises with tall backs and elongated necks.
Our travelling and centre exercises will help enhance bilateral and asymmetrical co-ordination through using both sides of the body.
9. Timing & Musicality
Our exercises are designed to develop timing and encourage musicality. Warm Ups, Travel Exercises and Centre Work has a definite focus on finding the beat, whilst our Dances and Musical Stories help foster an understanding of music.
10. Ballerina Brains
Dancing improves brain function on a variety of levels. It is a stimulating mental activity that connects mind to body. Ballet movements also require focus and concentration to complete. Children who acquire these skills will use them at school and in their daily lives.
