BOYZONE HIP HOP: 4 years old-School age/5-7 years old

Class Overview:

This high energy and dynamic class is full of attitude!!

It will focus on all elements of hip hop from the foundations of old school to the recent dance trends you see today.

We will explore and work on different techniques as well as help the dancers find their own groove.

40 minutes duration.

What we learn:

1. Team Work

They will become a CREW! As a crew we will create routines & shapes not only as an individual, but by looking at the big picture & incorporating the group as a whole.

2. Flava

Finding their own style & attitude through hip hop. Adding their own ‘Flava’ to the moves given. Teaching our dancers to express themselves through the movements. Dancing to express, not to impress.

3. Beats & Rhythm

Using the beat in the music we will feel the groove & create dance steps around the beat (why we see pop & lockers in sync with the music). As we rap (& make our own beats with the rap) rhythm comes into play. Feeling the beat within will help them find their own connection to the music.

4. Confidence

Helps them to come out of their shell and have fun with dance! Yelling out raps or becoming a real rock star in our dances really helps the young dancers to let loose and have a ball! There is no judgement in this class. The more crazy and cool you can be the better! Encouraging words and support from the teachers and other students also helps boost confidence and self esteem. With a freestyle dance off at the end of class – we cheer each other on the whole time!

5. Memory Recall

Copying the moves is one thing but remembering the moves the next week and using muscles memory is a whole other skill. We will help the groovy dancers to use their memory recall to remember their dances and the moves we learnt from previous weeks.

6. Team Work

Coming into this class you will be joint our HIP HOP CREW!!! We create our dance as a group. Instead of dancing as an individual some shapes and moves in our dance require the whole crew!

7. Creativity

In learning how to ‘Freestyle’ (not the swimming stroke) our Hip Hoppers not only show off their individuality but also explore new moves and create their own dances!
